太平洋戰爭爆發，中國與美、英等國結成軍事同盟，于民國31年3月與33年4月兩次組成中國遠征軍，聯合盟軍在緬甸與日軍作戰，支持盟軍防守緬甸，也維持中國西南的物資補給線，同時也拖住日軍部隊，間接于側翼協助美軍在太平洋戰場上的進攻行動。本書選自國史館庋藏之《蔣中正總統文物》與《陳誠副總統文物》之中與中國遠征軍相關之史料，精選重要文獻，編輯成六個部分，完整呈現中國遠征軍的組成、征戰、轉進、反攻勝利等過程。
